What are the objectives of the Hydrafacial ?

During treatment, the hydrafacial allows:

  • to remove dead skin cells and other pore-clogging debris
    a gentle peel
  • infuse the skin with soothing, moisturizing and anti-aging ingredients
  • such as antioxidants, hyaluronic acid and peptides.

The treatment can be customized based on your skin issues and sensitivity level. “If you have blackheads and oily skin, we will focus more on cleansing. For textural issues, we may focus more on peeling, with a stronger glycolic acid for example.

With a series of treatments, HydraFacial can achieve a more even skin tone, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, smaller pores and clearer skin with less acne.

Does HydraFacial eliminate wrinkles ?

You will certainly need a more intense treatment (such as a deep chemical peel, hyaluronic acid or Botox injections, or even a mini facelift) to eliminate deep wrinkles and folds. That said, a series of HydraFacial treatments can improve the appearance of fine lines and superficial wrinkles. Your plastic surgeon will advise you in a medical consultation.

How does the hydrafacial treatment take place at the Médicis clinic ?

1) Cleaning & Peeling

It starts with a deep cleansing of your pores, but it goes much further than a topical application. The cleansing process includes a blend of cleansers and moisturizing, soothing ingredients. The HydraPeel pen-shaped tip removes makeup and dirt.

Next comes the exfoliation phase, which uses a blend of glycolic and salicylic acids to help remove the dead top layer of skin cells and uncover a more radiant complexion. As with any chemical exfoliating treatment, you may experience some mild tingling.

2)Extraction

Next, a vortex extraction nozzle draws out blackheads and any remaining impurities from deep within your pores. This vacuum step stimulates lymphatic drainage, helping to boost circulation while removing excess fluid and waste.

3) Hydration

Next, your face infuses a targeted serum, a customized cocktail that includes moisturizing ingredients, antioxidants, peptides and collagen.

There are 11 different boosters available that can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, energize and brighten skin, improve firmness or target other issues. Ingredients include growth factors, peptides and acids, as well as botanical extracts.

4) Protection

Before leaving, a moisturizer and sunscreen will be applied.

Can we have hyaluronic acid or Botox injections at the same time as a HydraFacial ?

Many patients have injectables like hyaluronic acid or Botox at the same time as the Hydrafacial. The key is to do them in the proper order.

We recommend that our patients get the HydraFacial first, and then continue with the fillers or Botox.”

How long do the HydraFacial results last?

Your HydraFacial results: deeply moisturized, radiant skin and a more even skin tone last at least five to seven days.

Longer lasting results can be achieved with a series of HydraFacial and maintenance treatments.

You may still see improvement after one treatment, but if you follow a full cycle of treatments, you’ll see much better results.”

What is HydraFacial Keravive?

In early 2020, HydraFacial launched a scalp and hair follicle health treatment called Keravive. Aimed at people with dry scalps, clogged follicles and thin-looking hair, Keravive uses a solution to cleanse and exfoliate (Beta HD), then a proprietary peptide serum (the Keravive Peptide Complex) made up of a blend of growth factors and proteins to stimulate growth, nourish existing hair and moisturize the scalp.

Arrive with clean, dry hair (no product), and the in-office treatment begins with a cleansing and exfoliation with the HydraPeel tip device, followed by a second step to stimulate and nourish.

A take-home spray extends your results and improves the health of your hair.

HydraFacial recommends a series of three monthly Keravive in-office treatments and continued use of the take-home spray for optimal results.

Microdermabrasion or HydraFacial: what is the difference?

Hydrafacial is similar to microdermabrasion in that it exfoliates and opens pores.

Unlike microdermabrasion, HydraFacial does not use abrasive crystals to remove dead skin. It uses a suction device and a light chemical peel to gently exfoliate. This makes it suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin, while microdermabrasion can be too rough for fragile skin.

Who are the right candidates for the Hydrafacial treatment?

This gentle treatment is well tolerated and safe, but there are a few contraindications. If you have active herpes or severe cystic acne, you should not have a HydraFacial.

If you are currently on Roaaccutane, wait six months after finishing before having a HydraFacial.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding are both contraindications for the HydraFacial due to the products used in some of the treatments
