Laser hair removal treatments use light energy to permanently destroy hair follicles, usually on the legs, back, bikini line, underarms or face, in order to prevent hair from growing back ( hair reduction )
Because everyone is different, there is no set rule on how many sessions you will need. Typically, patients require six to eight laser hair removal treatments to remove hair from the treated area.

If you’re tired of shaving or waxing all the time, laser hair removal can make your life easier and reduce ingrown hairs. The laser precisely targets and removes hair, while leaving the skin intact without side effects.
Laser hair removal treatment can prevent permanently hair growth.
Lutronic’s clarity 2 laser makes it possible to treat all patients, regardless of skin color and hair color, all year round.
There are several lasers on the market that remove hair.
The performance of these devices depends on your skin and hair type and the parameters and settings of the lasers.
Alexandrite lasers are generally used on patients with fair skin, while Nd:Yag lasers are more appropriate for darker pigmented skin.
Diode lasers can be used on most skin types, although they can be more uncomfortable for many patients and are slower.
It is necessary to stop waxing or tweezing the areas you wish to remove for 3 weeks before your appointment.
Body or facial hair must be in the anagen growth phase, the phase when hair is actively growing, in order for the laser to effectively target the melanin in the hair bulb.
For this reason, your sessions will be spaced at different intervals to capture the right growth phase.
You should avoid UV exposure for a month prior to your treatment and self-tanning lotions as the laser light is attracted to the pigments in either the hair follicles or the skin.
Each treatment can take up to an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated. Smaller areas such as the upper lip, ears and chin can be treated in less than a minute, while larger areas such as the back or legs can take up to an hour.
Before your hair removal session, you will be asked to fill out a detailed medical questionnaire.
Dr. ABBOU or Dr. PESSIS will determine which type of laser is best suited to your skin and hair type, as well as your goals.
The laser setting will be adjusted to the color of your skin and the thickness of your hair.
You will need to wear special eye protection so that the laser light does not damage your eyes. Your doctor may also use a cold gel or cooling device to protect your skin and help the laser penetrate.
During the treatment, the laser emits a concentrated beam of light to damage the hair follicle and prevent regrowth.
During laser hair treatment , you may feel a slight discomfort, such as a pinprick or a hot snap, as the laser passes over your skin. Laser hair removal can be uncomfortable for some people, but it should not be painful.
Once the procedure is complete, ice packs can be applied to help reduce swelling and soothe irritation.
Six to eight sessions are typically required to treat permanently an area.
For a day or two afterwards, the treated area of your skin may feel like a sunburn, so you may need to use cold compresses or a gentle moisturizer. If your face has been treated, it’s safe to wear makeup the next day, unless your skin is irritated.
Avoid sun exposure. Whenever you plan to be in the sun, apply sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 50.
For the first few days, avoid perfumes, deodorants (if you’ve had an underarm laser) and hot showers or saunas. Take a warm shower instead.
It is common to experience swelling, itching and redness after laser hair removal due to irritation of the hair follicles.
