Vulva surgery is part of women’s intimate surgery.
Intimate surgery is becoming more and more important in cosmetic surgery and intimate aesthetic medicine. Patients want to feel better about their bodies and live their sexuality to the fullest. Vulva surgery can rejuvenate and beautify the female sexual organs.
Vulva surgery allows for the treatment of the external area of the female genitalia through nymphoplasty and augmentation of the labia majora, as well as the internal part of the female genitalia through hyaluronic acid injections and fat injections (lipofilling) to improve lubrication and tone.
This information sheet was written in June 2020 by Dr ABBOU and Dr PESSIS who are aesthetic surgeons in Paris and are specialized in intimate aesthetic surgery. They regularly perform vulvar surgery, both in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
Vulva surgery refers to cosmetic and plastic surgery and cosmetic medicine operations that aim to improve the aesthetic appearance of the vulva, i.e. the external female sexual organs: the labia minora and majora vaginalis.
Vulva surgery is intended for all patients who wish to reduce the labia minora by nymphoplasty, to increase the labia majora with or without surgery, to improve their comfort during sexual relations and during sports.
The surgery of the vulva takes place in the operating room under general anesthesia most often with an outpatient stay (exit the same day)
If the treatment is non-surgical with hyaluronic acid injections, it takes place at the doctor’s office.
The aftermath is not very painful with the presence of bruises and swelling for about ten days. Sexual intercourse can be resumed 3 weeks after the surgery.
