Invaginated nipples (sometimes called umbilical nipples or inverted nipples) are a common malformation, easily corrected by surgery. An umbilical nipple is when the nipple is retracted on itself, inside the breast, in the mammary areola. The reason for this malformation is found in the milk ducts, when they are too short or curl up on themselves.
